I'll make this quick, but basically what happened is this: the Internet Association, a trade association representing several major companies such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, and many more, have come out in support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. This legislation, as I previously mentioned, could be deadly for the Internet, and could criminalize normal web users for things that should be covered under fair use, which potentially and most frighteningly includes our fan art. There's a petition on FightForTheFuture.org right now to tell tech companies to retract their support of the TPP. I recommend you go there and sign it. You can find it here: www.fightforthefuture.org/2016…
If signing petitions isn't your thing, then send emails to the companies who are in the Internet Association and let them know that the TPP is a dangerous agreement for the future of the Internet. There is a list of the Internet Association members at the bottom of the page linked above; if you find a company whose services you use, then contact them and let them know about the dangers of the TPP.
For those who don't know/remember, here's what the TPP could end up doing:
-Entire families might be kicked off the internet even if you're just ACCUSED of breaking copyright.
-Copyright infringement will become a jailable offense.
-ISPs will have to monitor its users' Internet activity in order to enforce these laws, or they could face the risk of being sued.
-Transferring your DVDs to digital, even for personal purposes, can be fined up to 10,000$.
-The lasting time of copyrights will be extended to 70 years after the death of the author before the content falls into public domain, something that could well harm the public domain itself.
-Entire sites may be taken down for copyright infringement. Youtube and deviantArt, I fear, may be the most likely victims of that.
-Cosplayers, I have bad news for you: cosplaying might become a punishable offense due to copyright.
-Fair use and other protections against copyright will be overriden by the TPP.
-Let's Plays, fan art, video game streaming, and other things we all enjoy and do could become illegal due to copyright.
-Copyright infringement will be punishable EVEN IF THE HOLDER DOES NOT FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT!
I'm getting sick of talking about this stupid agreement, but it is necessary that I do, as it threatens to destroy the future of the Internet. And having spent most of my life on the Internet, I don't think I can just sit by and watch it all go down in flames. I don't often ask for this, but SHARE THIS THING AROUND. To your friends, to anyone who uses and loves the Internet. The TPP might be voted on in a matter of weeks, so time is running out. We must fight. For our Future, but also for our fanart. For the Internet, which has brought us so many great things...

(IMPORTANT!) The TPP Strikes...The hour is bleak, folks. There is a trade agreement called the Trans-Pacific Partnership currently being negotiated in secret between 12 countries: USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Chile, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Brunei, and Malaysia. And the potential implications of this agreement are simply frightening:
-It basically gives all sorts of immunities to big corporations in order to protect what is referred to as "potential profits". This means that a country's regulations can be overriden for the company's benefit. It could also potentially make boycotting a product a criminal offense due to its effects on the "potential profits"... (EDIT: I'm putting this in strikethrough for now because I haven't managed to find the source of this information again)
-A foreign investor could sue a country if it takes actions or has policies that hurt their investments. This could be done at the expense of the local population, and other local companies that do not
(IMPORTANT!) Canada has signed the TPPCanada has signed the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement... and I must admit that this makes me fear for this gallery's future.
As you may or may not remember from before, the agreement could have disastrous effects on several factors, from allowing pharmaceuticals to raise prices for medicine, to laws allowing companies to sue countries if their legislation gets in the way of "potential profits". But the scariest part, and the one that affects us all, is the sections on copyright. Fan art itself could be considered a crime under this agreement, and that is true even if the copyright holder doesn't file anything. Here's a brief summary of those little laws:
-Entire families might be kicked off the internet even if you're just ACCUSED of breaking copyright.
-Copyright infringement will become a jailable offense.
-ISPs will have to monitor its users' Internet activity in order to enforce these laws, or they could face the risk of being sued.

Speaking What Was Left Unsaid
Hey everyone. Artful here. It's been a hot minute since I posted here. I don't think this is going to be a very long update, but the main reason I'm posting today is to finally put to words something that my long absence has most likely confirmed for many of y'all: Budkin's Leaf Green Nuzlocke isn't going to be returning. Basically, at all. I think it needed to be said because there's been a part of me throughout the better part of the last... 5-ish years? that's been wanting to return to the comic someday. Trying to think of a way to continue from where I left it off, or just starting from scratch. And although it pains me deeply to admit it, the scale of the project was never going to be realizable. Not when I had so many other projects I wanted to see to completion. Not when I had school to juggle on top of it all. And especially not now that I have Actual Adult Responsibilities to contend with. I've spent the better part of the past few years trying to contend with my
What if it wasn't a Nuzlocke?
Hey everyone! This is Artful. Sorry for taking over 6 months to get back to you all.
Anyway, I've been spending a fair amount of time pondering how to make the reboot of my Nuzlocke comic. I knew I wanted to have a clear plan of the story before writing down any specifics, so I had tasked myself to finish my Nuzlocke run so I would know what main events would occur in my story. Months later, I have not made that much meaningful progress in my run. And that's when I realized something important.
I didn't want to continue Nuzlocking Leaf Green.
It may just be my personal preference, but something about Pokémon LG/FR just... irks me so m
A Reboot for Budkin's Nuzlocke?
Hey everyone, this is Artful. And I've been spending these past few months pondering the future of this comic. You see, I've had tons of troubles with finishing my story. The biggest issue with it all is fairly simple to identify:
I have been coming up with the story as I went along.
This was the same reason that Wanderers of the Mushroom Kingdom fell to cancellation. I did not have a strong plan from the start, and I would let whims direct the course of the story. While it may seem like fun and not restrictive, the MAJOR pitfall of writing stories this way is that there is no clear direction to what is being done. At best, I had a vague id
Musings on the Nuzlocke Comic...
Hey everyone! It's ArtfulRoomsOfDeath here. I know I don't really make many journals anymore, and I'm sorry for that. But here we go, here's an update on where things are with my comic.
I have to admit, I've been finding myself dissatisfied with my performance as of late. The main points are that I haven't been as productive with my comic this summer as I had hoped, and that the comic itself isn't progressing fast enough at its current update rate.
The first point is fairly easy to go over: I had started the summer break with a strong intent to make enough pages to sustain a monthly update schedule for a full year. Needless to say, this did
